Dark Mechanicus (My Brighton List)

Ok so I am off to my first tournament in about 8/9 months YAY!!! What I will do here is talk a little about the tournament, what’s in my list and a summary of why it’s in my list.

So this tournament is run by the Brighton Warlords in a decent venue an old pub.

Things to know before selecting lists.

1.)    Its 1650pts

2.)    Any Forgeworld allowed as long as it  doesn’t have structure points or is a gargantuan creature.

3.)    Forgeworld army lists allowed

4.)    MAX 3 FLYERS

5.)    MAX 10 MODELS WITH INTERCEPT/ SKYFIRE

Welcome back one and all - Firstly an apology to all those who have been following my run of blogs on these nuns with guns. Unfortunately I have been particularly busy with work and life and haven't been able to get to my computer much of late.

But here I am - we continue where I left off previously in the midst of my report against Mike and his Necron filth. You can follow THIS link to read the first part of the report.

Last night I pitched the list I posted previously against one of the top armies currently on circuit.

I am informed that this list was created by the infamous Joshua Roberts® over at 40KUK© and was used at the recent Caledonian Uprising tournament - although it is very similar to what our very own Luke Nurser® was using towards the end of 5th and into 6th.

Allies are a huge part of the game and as you can tell I’m fully utilising this part of the game by including Eldrad into the army. It does kinda seem odd however that I only have 4 Eldar models in the army....

So should I use anything else in the Eldar Codex? A good question and a question I shall answer now.

I’m ofc assuming I retain the two units I’m using now. Question is can I add to my army with further Eldar forces?

Well now the tourney season is over for me and I’ve had a good 18 tournament style games I’ll air a few of my thoughts on Eldrad’s psychic powers. Now I went through Divination powers before the Brighton GT but now it’s time for me to waltz onto the telepathy powers.

So as I said last week, I went to Brighton GT this week. Below I’m going to list out how I did and things I learned. Having only played 10 games previous there were several mistakes I made against everyone so thanks for everyone’s patience! I also learned more about each army I was facing and what the Meta was looking like now.

So without further ado here was what happened!

Necrons Do you need allies? Or forever alone?

Ok so let’s analyse the most common reasons for having allies in your army.  In 6^th ed there seems to be a number of reason you would like to take allies but I think 3 reasons at high level tournament play you would need allies, these are.

+ No flyers

++ No way to kill Flyers

+++ Crap holding units

Allies. You either love them or you hate them. However they are here to stay, several tournaments are in favour of them and such this is the biggest change to 40k as we know it.

A lot of odd and bizarre combinations will shake up the order of things. The combination of the two super powers of 5^th Necrons and Grey Knights as well of 4^th Edition Chaos and Orks.

In this edition I’m looking as Dark Eldar as the Parent Army as well as the Ally and I’ll take you through my thoughts on each pairing.
