Dark Eldar: List Evolution

Dark Eldar: List Evolution

Ok so as I’ve said I went to the Caledonian uprising and from that I’ve learnt a lot about my army and what it needs to compete. Although I didn’t play Daemons, I played Necrons and I changed my mind about a few things. Building an army that can compete in the north and the south is a tough prospect but I believe I’ve learnt a lot about what it Is to be dark eldar.

Rupert's Deffwing army.

Hello there ladies and gents, it is perhaps about time I actually wrote an article for the blog rather than just do the podcasty stuff so I thought I would show you my Ork Deffwing army which I used extensively during the last year of 5th edition!

I had mixed success with the army, initially I didn't do particularly well but once I got used to the playstyle I racked up some pretty decent results with a top 10 at Reading Starsmash, top 10 at X-Legion, top 5 at Brighton Warlords and a 3rd place finish at Aldershot 'ardboyz.

This army was made just after the Dark Angel book had been FAQed (sp) so that they got proper storm shields and proper cyclone missile launchers, I figured I'd take a ton of terminators and then add in predators so as to maintain the resilient theme and to deny the enemy any easy kill points.

Dark Eldar: Eldar Allies

Dark Eldar: Eldar Allies

Allies are a huge part of the game and as you can tell I’m fully utilising this part of the game by including Eldrad into the army. It does kinda seem odd however that I only have 4 Eldar models in the army....

So should I use anything else in the Eldar Codex? A good question and a question I shall answer now.

I’m ofc assuming I retain the two units I’m using now. Question is can I add to my army with further Eldar forces?

Dark Eldar: The Infantry Revolution

Dark Eldar: The Infantry Revolution

Mech is dead….. LONG LIVE INFANTRY!!! Apparently…. Well not for me just yet but this blog will look into the Dark Eldar On foot infantry options that seem to be appearing everywhere at tournaments atm. These so called Deathstars seem to be multiplying at a ferocious speed so I’ll have a go at figuring how to join the party. I’ll be looking at my Eldar Allies as well to see if there’s any big blocky units in there to use… so without further ado let’s see where this revolution came from.

Dark Eldar: Psykers

Dark Eldar: Psykers

Well now the tourney season is over for me and I’ve had a good 18 tournament style games I’ll air a few of my thoughts on Eldrad’s psychic powers. Now I went through Divination powers before the Brighton GT but now it’s time for me to waltz onto the telepathy powers.

Dark Eldar: Octoberfest!

Dark Eldar: Octoberfest!

So here it is! Our favourite tourney and it didn’t disappoint. We got heavily drunk on the Saturday night. And I had plenty of great games.

A bit of background about Octoberfest. This is probably the oldest tournament on the scene at the moment. It has a unique rule set and as such to do well you need a ‘Mayhem’ army. What I mean by this is that taking just one objective isn’t enough to win well. To get full generalship marks in a game you have to take EVERY objective. Tabling an opponent doesn’t get you full points you must take the objectives. Similarly in kill points winning by 1 doesn’t help. You have to win by a lot to get the full quota of points.

Below ill briefly go through my games what I learned and I’ll give a quick review of the tourney itself. And so on with the show!

Dark Eldar: The Next Step

Dark Eldar: The Next Step

So after a relatively mixed tourney 2 weekends ago and having just watched my favourite grand prix driver get his first ever podium (GO KOBYASHI!!!) I’ll move onto talking about the changes to my list
for Brighton GT.

A little background to the tourney is that the Brighton warlords normally hold 3 tournaments a year
and, as its no restrictions, was a logical step to hold the 2nd of the 3 GT heats here. It’s held above a
pub which is great however irritatingly Brighton is pretty pricey for accommodation so no nights out!
There’s a car park opposite and it is very easily accessible. This is the first Major tournament of 6 th
for us and so with a little bit of trepidation it’s time we present my army list!

It’s important to note by the way that the meta up north seems to represent a major shift towards
infantry with guard allying with a battle brother. I have mixed feelings about this but I’ll get into that
later. But now…. Onto the show!

6th Edition – Breaking the Mould

6th Edition – Breaking the Mould

Hello everyone today I’m gunna have a swift blog about the conservative nature of many a gamer. Let me explain…

As you may have read I’m a avid Dark Eldar Player. When 6th edition hit I couldn’t wait to plough into them again and do new things with my existing army. Problem was all the armies I was taking were in all intents are purposes the same as my previous attempt….. very similar to my 5th edition army.

Blood Angels - The Transition

Hey all and welcome to my first series to be covered - the mighty Blood Angels.

My favourite army through 5th edition without a doubt - these guys saw me through for an invitation to the 2012 masters. (I think i finished 17th but someone dropped out!)

The army was based on 5 units. Yes, just 5 - Here's the army list;

Mephiston, Lord of Mind Games - 250
