So when I was at the Caledonian uprising the other week and I wondered over to my table, I noticed this shining crypt type thing on the table. Did someone leave this from a Warhammer tournament? Is this some sorta massive LOS scenery? No this was the scenic base of John Swallow. It’s rare to see sceneric bases these days especially in tournaments where they aren’t needed for points. It certainly was eye catching…. I caught up with Master Swallow and this is what he had to say.

The final painter who placed in heat three is Andrew Taylor. Now I really dislike guard. Mainly because im dark eldar (check my nemesis article!). But also because they allways seem… well…. Michael Bolton. A famous American singer songwriter renowned for his soft rock ballads. He’s not however known for his painting prowess. His name sake however is! Michael is a veteran of the tournament scene having been around for year and years. We crossed paths in the Master open tournament in January 2011. I was told before my first game ‘Expect to see something wacky’. Of course what this person meant by this was expect to see 27 ogryns…. He recently placed in the painting for the GT heat 3 and so i got in touch. Now it’s the new year I guess it’s time for me to be a bit continental right? David is a member of the Spanish ETC team and recently he went and competed at Heat 3 of the GT. James has been a tournament player for a while now and if you a warhammer forum or warseer forum goer you will see him by the name Spikeyjames. I came across this current army when we crossed swords at the second GT heat in Brighton. Now even though dice luck totally failed him. (One Ravager destroying 3 land speeders in one shooting phase comes to mind!) Our game was very pleasant and half way through it was announced that he had been voted for best painted army and thus was through to the final! I’m not going to sit here and tell you how well I know Paul. Fact is we never crossed paths before him living in the north and myself living in the south. However when I was looking at the Heat 1 results from the GT I saw this huge Plague Marine Staring at me! This blog will be the first in a series of blogs dedicated to that rare thing. A tournament gamer with a fantastically painted army. It’s not rare to see a painter who casually games or a gamer that is great at painting but focuses on getting an army done. It is however extremely rare to see an army painted with such skill you’re guilty that they have to face your own dreary army across the battlefield and for this army to be used at several tournaments and survive the wear and tear that comes with it.

My first subject is Matt Cook. I first met Matt vaguely when I first started going to tournaments regularly. Since then I’m sad whenever I’m at a tournament and he’s not there. An amazing guy and if you play him you’ll definatly enjoy it. A silent member of team Death or Glory now, he produced this fantastic Dark Eldar army and I have invited him to tell us about it below.
