'In Practice' Part 2 Putting Timelines into practice

Good morrow all those of you that have happened upon our humble blog here at Death or Glory today. I'm currently sitting in the shade from the morning sun, I believe it is going to be quite a day, I hope it is likewise for you.

Today we shall talk about the topic of timelines, previously spoken about over on the Wonderful world of fluff blog series here on Death or Glory and how to put that into practice in a more detailed fluff, to do this we dive back into the world of the yor'corvus.

Enjoy

How to counter the "Unbeatable" Tau?

A lot of people are getting up in arms about the Tau and how broken they are. Now don’t get me wrong they are probably the most competitive codex we have seen since Necrons and Grey Knights. But never fear as good as the codex is, I don’t see it as broken or "unplayable" it’s just a great counter to the current Meta, and has that scary newness factor to it. So first we have to establish what they do well to work out how we need to play against them.

So what are the Tau strengths?

Dark Eldar: Nemesis - Tau

Dark Eldar: Nemesis - Tau

I’m going to take a bit of a different approach to nemesis than my previous articles. Perhaps it’s time to tell you how id face an opponent and not just say how good or bad we are against them! Our Subject is Tau, the new kids on the block and the new thing in the internet. The normal discussion is….. How many Str 7 shots did you fit in? I Have 80….

Scary but are we, Dark Eldar, scared? Well let’s have a look!

Tau in 6th (Part 4 Ethereal and Fire Warriors painting update)

Hello again, it’s not been too long this time but I have a few more finished bits to share with you. I will start with the Tau Ethereal I have converted and painted. The Idea of the Ethereals being the spiritual leaders of the Tau has always appealed to me. They have the ultimate power over their own race with a Fire warrior willing to give his life for the cause to please the ethereal. I have mostly run an ethereal in the past when playing with my Tau through 3rd and 4th Ed even then they were crap but I enjoyed the challenge of trying to keep them alive.  Anyway enough of my rambling and onto the model.

Tau in 6th (Part 3 Airbrushing a Devilfish step by step)

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted, but I thought it was about time I did a tutorial on how I am painting my Tau tanks, and also show the final finished item with weathering and chipping.

The first thing to say is that getting a decent airbrush and compressor is quite an expense to initially set up. I would suggest asking somebody who has one to try it out before buying. However once this is paid for, and if you look after it properly it will last you forever.

There are 2 main reasons to use an airbrush in my eyes and they are speed, and the smoothness of the coat of paint.

Anyway enough of that into the step by step guide.

Tau in 6th (Part 2 Painting Update)

So as I promised I will post pics of the start of my Tau army. I used an airbrush to paint them quickly and will do a tutorial of how I did this in the coming weeks. This is a different way of painting to my normal way which is to paint a model at a time. The idea behind this is to get the army on the table to start playing and then to detail up all the models in the future.

Tau in 6th (Part 1 Inital Thoughts)

Ok for those of you who have listened to the latest episode of the podcast will know I have become bored of the Fallenwing project. Painting that much black was not fun and the combination of that mixed with the very 1 dimensional play style of terminators quickly lost my interest.

But with the death of that project was the birth of another.

This new project needed to have focus tick a few boxes for me...

1.) Be an underdog, giving me a challenge and also room to grow with the list. I decided on this rule having been inspired by reading Steve’s 1st Sisters post.
2.) Must allow me to paint it (to good gaming standard) at speed so that I can try out allot of different elements in the list.
3.) MUST BE AN ARMY I WANT TO USE!!!
