Dark Mechanicus (Tornament and Painting Update)

Firstly I must apologise for taking my sweet time over getting another post up here. 2 tournaments in 2 weekends and the associated painting burnt me out for a week or so but I’m back and feeling good.

Review of tournaments’

Painting...
So this was the main driver behind the Dark Mechanicus army, I like to play with nicely painted toys. At the Brighton gt heat 2, I qualified as one of the top 5 best armies placing second behind a very nicely painted Necron army with grey knight allies. At Mayhem I managed to fight off competition from some lovely armies to take home the trophy for best army which had eluded me last year. Overall this was very successful with lots of interest in the army, and will inspire me to continue on with this project.

Gaming...
Not quite as successful L I would go as far as to say very disappointing by my own high standards (I was runner up last year at mayhem with my Grey Knights this time finishing around the 20th spot).  I had allot of fun playing, but my army was disappointing and I made lots of small mistakes and proved I need to play more games of 6th. In my next blog I will take a look at all the units in my army and attempt to work out where to change the army going forward (I will also put up those army shots I promised before Brighton).

Anyway I know most of you don’t read my blog for gaming or tactical tips (and that would appear sensible after my last 2 tournament performances), so here is some painting stuff.

I have been working on some Chaos marine allies for my dark Mechanicus army and have finally finished painting some of these boys up. Chaos terminators, simple conversion with tentacle arms made from green stuff and plastic tubing and green stuff to making gas masks. Same colour scheme as with the rest of the army.

Unit of 7 plague marines with 2x plasma guns using ork bodies to give them a mutated Nurgle look, and then using the same small conversions as for the terminators to keep the theme.

I know there are lots of people who don’t like allies, but for me they are great. With these 2 units and a chaos lord, and maybe a funky forgefield or maulerfiend this is enough to be an allied force. Such a small model count really appeals to me.

Hope you like and all feedback is welcome.
