End of an era

This time 6 months ago I was running, with my fellow DOG team mates, a successful 76 man tournament. Yesterday I found myself putting my entire collection onto eBay. This was a moment of great sadness. Not because I was selling my collection, but because I didn’t overly care that I was selling my collection. How has it come to this? I have been playing 40k for 16 years why now?

Death or Glory 2: Pictures

I ponder life whilst colouring in excel
Hi everyone today is the first day for a long while I’ve had a moment or to to relax and reflect on what was a fantastic weekend of gaming, drinking and chat.

Imperial Knights “Do they have a place in tournaments”

So we are all aware that the new Knights are out and that their codex is a normal one and is not a lord of war slot etc... So I guess the question is, “do knights have any place on the tournament scene”. I'm going to go through the pros and cons of this...

The Knights

So there are 2 types of Knight both very similar but with different weapon load outs.
Let’s take a look at their basic rules first though. They are super heavy walkers (move 12”) with AV 13 front, with 6 hp’s this means you have to strip them all before it explodes and you can’t do any weapon destroyed or immobilised results to it. They have stomp attacks in combat, and a 4++ save that can be facing in one direction only. They have basic marine stats and 3 attacks.

Death or Glory Episode 30

Heya everyone and welcome to episode 30 of the death or glory podcast!

Death or Glory 2: The Feature table!

Last tournament we decided we wanted a feature table, a table that people would go on and we would record the games and then report on the games on the blog and put up videos of the games online.

Unfortunately we found that the sound wasn't very good and the video wasn't up to a standard were we could publish them and it be good.

So this time out we've decided to interview the people on the feature table instead and put that on the podcast, with the view into potentially streaming it in the future.

We were approached by Andy Brown who said he would make us a feature table. Anyone who has seen any of Andy’s work on 40k Global or at any tournament knows how good this guy is at painting and we said a resounding yes.

Dark Eldar: Woking Weirdboys.... ESCALATION!

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to the Dark Eldar Series, I’ve had a bit of a break organising a tournament and having x-mas and so on but now I’m back with the bi-week look at everything Dark Eldar.

So having started to write again I had to do something big… I had to Escalate!

Me, Rich and Steve travelled down to Woking Weirdboyz to join in the Lord of War silliness. Only I decided just to take a 1850 list I would take to any tournament and see what a difference it made.

Journey To Throne of Skulls: Journeys End

I was unsure of how to write this up. Rather than go down the traditional format of listing the games and so forth I thought I would give the event an overview and rough rundown of it.

List-Fu: 1650pts SW+IG+INQ for GT Final
CMON, Beamo (GW)

I thought I'd put up the list that I'm working on for the 40k GT finals in March. This list has developed from the thinking behind this post and the following discussions on Total Immersion and at the club, so thanks to everyone who contributed their thoughts (Coyote, hornywingythingy and Jamie in particular).
As usual, this is intended to be a take-on-all-comers list but it is worth nothing that this list has not been designed to deal with Lords of War, S:D weapons or AV15, as these have been banned from the final.

Woking Weirdboyz - Escalation Tournament List Analysis

Hello Everyone!

Today I thought I’d have a look at some of the ‘Super Heavy’ armies on display at the Woking Weirdboyz tournament. For escalation tournaments the make-up of all the armies really varies to a silly degree as there is no Meta.

As the first escalation event that runs as a swiss system, this is the first time these lists have surfaced!

Caledonian 2014 - Something a little different!

List is submitted and the draw has been done. Interesting looking at the lists that have been submitted, and as you can imagine there is a huge amount of Tau, Eldar and Daemons. The list below was sent out giving a breakdown of the lists (Bare in mind this is a 100+ person tournament);

91 Khymerae
89 Grav Weapons
57 Screamers
49 Riptides inc O'Vesa
46 Broadsides
38 Wave Serpents
30 Skyrays
21 Wraithknights
15 Heldrakes
14 Farsights
13 Coteaz
10 Stormravens
7 Fateweavers
5 Eldrads
5 Dooms

Although I had great success with my Eldar (winning GT Heat 2 etc) I wanted to try something that isn't being done by everyone so trying a new list out. Now I am following the trend to a degree and taking a Death Star, however I like to think it is slightly unique and horrendously unfluffy.

Eldar Autarch/ Corsair Prince

Hi all, this is my first post this year so Happy New Year. Anyway I'm continuing with my Eldar army, with the plan that it will get its first run out at DOG2 an appear at the gt final the week after. I've started work on a few models now but thought I would post this guy up as he's basically done.

It's quite a simple conversion with a cut down scourge head, wraithknight hand and a wraith blade body. I've decided to go back to my favoured manga style paint job for this army but with some of the things I learnt from doing my dark mechanicus used such as lighting effect. I wanted him to have a heavyer style of armour than my basic troop.
