Tournament Gamers Painting Masterclass 3: Paul Scott – Plague Marines

Tournament Gamers Painting Masterclass 3: Paul Scott – Plague Marines

I’m not going to sit here and tell you how well I know Paul. Fact is we never crossed paths before him living in the north and myself living in the south. However when I was looking at the Heat 1 results from the GT I saw this huge Plague Marine Staring at me! Wondering what it was I came across Paul’s army and much to my own delight saw he was a tournament gamer and took the top spot for painting at Heat 1! So i contacted him and asked him about his army and to write about himself. Without further ado this is his story!

Dark Eldar: The Infantry Revolution

Dark Eldar: The Infantry Revolution

Mech is dead….. LONG LIVE INFANTRY!!! Apparently…. Well not for me just yet but this blog will look into the Dark Eldar On foot infantry options that seem to be appearing everywhere at tournaments atm. These so called Deathstars seem to be multiplying at a ferocious speed so I’ll have a go at figuring how to join the party. I’ll be looking at my Eldar Allies as well to see if there’s any big blocky units in there to use… so without further ado let’s see where this revolution came from.

Dark Mechanicus (Unit Review and Army Shot)

I’ve now had time to reflect on the last 2 tournaments, the way I played what worked and what didn’t so well and also to think about my own play style. So what I will do is run through the army I took to the tournaments and rate the unit and also my application of those units.

Ratings as followed

(++) Awesome a must include in the future/ Milked it for all its worth
(+) Decent must be considered for future projects / I used it well
(=) OK
(-) Crap unit / I used it like a chump
(--) What was I f%*&ing thinking including this.

Dark Mechanicus (Tornament and Painting Update)

Firstly I must apologise for taking my sweet time over getting another post up here. 2 tournaments in 2 weekends and the associated painting burnt me out for a week or so but I’m back and feeling good.

Review of tournaments’

Painting...
So this was the main driver behind the Dark Mechanicus army, I like to play with nicely painted toys. At the Brighton gt heat 2, I qualified as one of the top 5 best armies placing second behind a very nicely painted Necron army with grey knight allies. At Mayhem I managed to fight off competition from some lovely armies to take home the trophy for best army which had eluded me last year. Overall this was very successful with lots of interest in the army, and will inspire me to continue on with this project.

Podcast Episode 5 - UK 40K GT Heat 2 - Brighton

Hello ladies and gents, this podcast we bring you a roundup of the recent UK 40K GT Heat 2 which was run by the marvelous Brighton Warlords at Ye Olde King and Queen Brighton!

We are proud to say that we survived a weekend of gaming, banter and Mr Happy Happy Joy Joy himself at the pub!

Hidden Gems of the Chaos Codex

While preparing for both our upcoming podcast on the Chaos codex and for the Iron Fist painting challenge, I have been thinking a lot about the Chaos codex's choices which slip under most peoples radar and what sort of army it is nowadays.

The conclusion I have come to is that the Chaos codex is all about punching your opponent in the face really hard on turn 2*. Why do I think that? Lets take a look at some of the units people on the Internet in general seem to be writing off.

Dark Eldar: Psykers

Dark Eldar: Psykers

Well now the tourney season is over for me and I’ve had a good 18 tournament style games I’ll air a few of my thoughts on Eldrad’s psychic powers. Now I went through Divination powers before the Brighton GT but now it’s time for me to waltz onto the telepathy powers.
