"Wonderful world of fluff" Back to the Future

Good Morrow all,
I do hope you are all enjoying a fantastic day.
First off, I do apologise for my absence, I have no excuse other than that I encountered a family emergency here and due to the size of my family it took quite a while for us all to deal with the news.
But I am back and back I am for good,
Today we talk about credibility; making your listener or reader believe your story and how to believe it yourself.
So let us get back to the future.

Eldar - The Next Chapter

So after a depressing couple of years using an incredibly dull army (Necrons) I have finally got new toys to play with! Eldar have always been one of my favourite armies, and in fact were my second army I ever collected back when the Craftworld Elder book first came out.

Over the next few months myself and the DoG team have 3 or 4 tournaments and I am going to do my best to have a regular blog updating everyone on all the trophies I am winning. Below is the list I will be using for the DoG tournament next week and the next few tournaments.

Sisters of Battle @ The Woking 1st Founding

"Your forces? There is not nearly enough! Understand, Governor, whatever foul work the Arch-Enemy has planned here must be stopped. But don't be fooled, this world will die. It just remains to be seen how many of us die with it."
- Canoness Superior Siena, before her rise to Sainthood (shown left).

This Saturday saw the brilliant Woking 1st Founding (sister club and namesake of the Tolworth 1st Founding) host a 1 day, 1850 pts, 3 game tournament for around 30 players. No Forgeworld allowed.

Myself and Mr Marlow both attended as it seemed like great practice for the Death or Glory™ tournament which is only 2 weeks away now! Christ that has gone quickly!

MY TYRANIDS AND ME... Creating the list you like and being competitive too.

When we were at Brighton a month or so back, we bumped into Zak Gregory, a Tyranid player with a difference. Tervigons? Flying Hive Tyrant? neither graced his list. What was also starterling is that they were well painted too! heaven forbid!

Zak has written this article for us about his nids. Enjoy!

CONCEPTS: Spam

Hmmm... Spam...
A quick note before we launch into the main post - The 'CONCEPTS:' series is intended to be a range of articles analysing and discussing certain commonly used (and sometimes misunderstood) terms and army building techniques, such as Balance, Redundancy and Duality. I have built up my understanding of these concepts from a large variety of different sources and I certainly do not claim to be the originator of these various ideas! I find writing the articles helps me clarify my own thinking, and so they are directed at myself as much as anyone else. Anyway, onto the main event!

Dark Eldar: Woking War Tournament

So obviously with our tournament around the corner, I’m busy organising and meeting and greeting, sorting out the final details with my brother with Ru and the rest of the Death or Glory team. So I popped into Tolworth first founding to sort out the boards and Ian Courtney came up to me and asked whether I’d like to play at Woking war…. It was a 1 day event and my girlfriend was away all during the week, so I thought what the hell! And packed my Dark Eldar and off I went!

Woking War is held at the Maybury centre in Woking and is an offshoot from the Tolworth first founding. A lot of people use this tournament as attest for the mayhem tournament and the DoG tournament. A lot of tournament regulars were testing out their DoG army lists and so I was up against a few tough opponents.

The system was at a net victory points plus fifteen to a maximum of 30 points, so a margin of victory tournament… I had no idea what to expect!

Dark Mechanicus (Lord of Change and DOG List)

So after a few more games with the Great Unclean One I have finally given up on him.

He is too slow and doesn’t allow me to reach out against the heavy fire power lists, so in comes the Lord of Change.
The Lord of Change has speed, resilience, damage output and through psychic powers helps out the rest of my army. The biggest problem I was finding was how to make him in my Dark Mechanicus style. But fresh from the painting table here he is with a few work in progress shots as well. Hope you like.

Death or Glory Tournament FAQ

This is our FAQ for the upcoming tournament.

Any queries please message me on Facebook and ill add the questions to the FAQ i won't add anything that is obvious.

This FAQ was created in concert with Ian Courteney from the Woking 1st Founding.

Depending on the success the idea is to create a southern club FAQ for everywhere in the south. As frankly its pretty Rubbish when one tournament rules one things and another rules something else.

Dark Eldar: Brighton Warlords Tournament

Hey guys and welcome along to the next chapter of my Dark Eldar blog. I love tournaments and this next one is definitely one of the best. Brighton Warlords was a 1650 pt., forge world allowed tournament in which secondary objectives didn’t count for who won the game, but contributed bonus points each round. I was quite sceptical about this rule but stormed on regardless. I was coming off a 5th place from Aldershot and the only way was up right?

A New Challenger Approaches...

Hi everyone, Sentinel here from Total Immersion Wargaming (aka Mike Terry). Having played some great games against Mike and Steve at the recent Brighton Singles Tournament and met the other guys too, Mike asked if I'd be interested in contributing to the Death or Glory blog. As you've already guessed, I said yes!

I'm interested in competitive 40k, and really enjoy reading and writing about strategy and the concepts behind the game. I like to think about things like playstyle, the risks of netlisting, analyzing the pros and cons of comp in competitive tournaments and a whole bunch of other topics along these lines.

In Practice: Unpredictability, the How to Guide on making theunpredictable your friend!

Good Morrow Readers and welcome to another edition of In Practice.
Firstly I apologise for my recent break from the blog, unfortunately things here in Germany got a tad interesting (in many ways) and therefore I was left with little time to spare.
But now on my way back from a weeks holiday I am ready to post a couple of articles for you!
Today we will dive into quite a different topic than usual here in the In Practice series because today we will actually be talking about Gaming.
Shock Horror I know, but although I love writing about fluff and love the reponse to that which I have recieved, the up and coming 'In Practice' Post concerning how to name your characters is taking a while to write.
In the mean time, sit back, and expect the unexpected.

Dark Mechanicus (My Brighton List Review)

So you will hear on the podcast how my games went but I thought I would review the list I took and which parts worked well and which parts didn’t. And also look at what I would keep going forward.

I will rate each unit out of 5
