I'm
interested in competitive 40k, and really enjoy reading and writing
about strategy and the concepts behind the game. I like to think about
things like playstyle, the risks of netlisting, analyzing the pros and
cons of comp in competitive tournaments and a whole bunch of other
topics along these lines.
I'm pretty new to the tournament scene, but hope to get settled in and make it to more events in the future. Brighton was my second proper competitive event (very happy to have made it into 10th place), with the 40KUK GT Heat 2 back in October last year being my first (just missed out in qualifying for the finals).

Having
gotten back into 40k a couple of years ago in 5th, I started collecting
my favourite army Space Wolves and was surprised to find that they were
considered to be one of the most powerful codexes at the time. Since
6th hit I've also started collecting Imperial Guard and Grey Knights as
allies, and have also dipped my toes into the murky waters of Forge
World (ask Steve what he thinks about my heavy quad launchers!).
I like to try and play balanced take-on-all-comers armies rather than play to the meta. This means aiming to bring enough tools to take on the necessary threats (e.g. fliers, GEQ/MEQ/TEQ, light and heavy vehicles and MCs) and battlefield roles (e.g. scoring, blocking, threat projection), but I also like a bit of target saturation to try to overload the enemy. I tend to play MSU lists (gasp! unfashionable, I know!) with plenty of mobile scoring units, as I think that this is a primary requirement to winning games in 6th. To give you an idea of what I mean, I'm currently running the following list:
1650pts Space Wolves and Imperial Guard
100pts Rune Priest, Jaws, Living Lightning (Warlord)
150pts Company Command Squad, Chimera (Heavy Flamer), 3 plasma guns
4x 125pts 5 Grey Hunters, Razorback (Heavy Bolter), plasma gun
2x 120pts 5 Grey Hunters, Razorback (Heavy Bolter), melta gun
150pts Platoon; Platoon Command Squad, 4 flamers; 2x Infantry Squads (no upgrades)
130pts Vendetta (PCS goes here)
2x 105pts 3 Hyperios Missile Launchers (Forge World)
70pts 2 Hyperios Missile Launchers (Forge World)
100pts 2 Heavy Quad Launchers (Forge World)
1650pts
I think that's probably enough of an introduction and my backstory for now! I haven't quite decided what to contribute to Death or Glory yet, but I'm thinking about offering up some of my CONCEPTS: articles, the battle reports from Brighton and a hobby post on my scratch built hyperios missle launchers. Time will tell!
So thanks to the guys here for inviting me. It's great to be on board and I hope my posts give you some good food for thought.
